How many CEU's does the AAPC require me to have for the number of certifications that I have?

The information below shows the number of CEU's required by AAPC for professional coders:

  • If specialty, 16 must be specialty specific

Two Certifications: 48 CEUs every two years

  • If CIRCC®, 24 must be interventional radiology or cardiovascular coding
  • If CPMA®, 24 must be related to topics covered under the CPMA® credential
  • If CPCO™, 24 must be related to the CPCO™ credential
  • 16 must be specialty specific for each specialty earned

Three Certifications: 60 CEUs every two years

Four Certifications: 72 CEUs every two years

How many CE credits must I earn?

Licensed medical professionals are required by law to earn credits in continuing medical education in order to maintain their medical licenses. Please check with your State Medical Licensing Board to make sure of the exact number of credits that you need for each license renewal period.  We have requirements listed for Physicians, DOs, and Nurses for each state board on our site, along with your state's web information.  We suggest you check with your state board to be certain that these requirements have not changed and there have been no new laws or requirements since we updated our web site.

How will I receive my certificate of participation?

When your payment has been processed, upon completion of your final exam and the course evaluation; you will be prompted to print your certificate.  You will also be able to choose the type of certificate you wish to print American Medical Association (CME's) or American Association of Professional Coders (CEUs).


Will I be able to print a certificate at the end of the course?

Yes, when you have completed the course requirements, you will be prompted to enter your personal information on our site and then you will be prompted to print your certificate.


Can I get a copy of my certificate of completion?

Yes, by logging back in with your User Name and Password you will be able to reprint your certificate of completion.


How long am I required to maintain these records?

Physicians are required to maintain copies of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ awards/transcripts for six years.

Coders, after submitting your completed CEU information to AAPC by CEU Tracker, you will need to keep your supporting documents for at least six months as the AAPC may randomly select you for CEU verification.


Are all of these courses offered online only?

Yes, the courses listed on the menu on this website are only offered online at www.joelsduhlinc.com.


Do all of these courses count towards my continuing education credits?

The Child Abuse Identification and Reporting is a mandatory course for the State of New York.  It will not count as CE towards the AAPC requirements. AAPC does not give credits for Flawless Customer Service or Hire, Motivate and Build a Great Team courses.

What are your hours of operation?

The website is up 24/7 and our office hours are Monday thru Friday 9:00  am - 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.


What type of payment do you accept?

We accept debit or credit cards (Visa and Master Card).

What if I do not want to use my credit card on the internet?

Although our site is secure, we do understand a lot of people do not trust the internet.  If you do not feel comfortable using your personal credit card on the internet, you may purchase a Visa Gift Card and use it to purchase your CEUs. This way you are not using your personal credit or debit card online.


Will I receive a receipt?

Yes, a receipt of your payment for your continuing education will be automatically e-mailed to you after you have printed your certificate of completion. Make sure that you enter your e-mail address correct. This is the only receipt that you will receive.
